Mongolian and international experts discuss digital transformation and sustainable higher education
The 14th ISCSET 2025 International Conference, co-organized by Technische Universität Chemnitz and the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST), provided a platform for researchers and professionals in computer science and educational technology to present their findings and exchange ideas. During the conference, GreenTech Horizons was highlighted through a dedicated presentation on institutional readiness for digital transformation.
Mapping digital readiness in higher education
In the Educational Technology 1 session, project team member Ya. Narantsetseg presented the paper “Digital University Transformation: Readiness Analysis of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology.” The presentation examined MUST’s digital transformation journey, including:
- its historical progress in digitalisation
- application of the Digital Transformation (Dx) Maturity Assessment Framework
- alignment with the MUST 2030 Strategic Development Plan
- proposal of a five-step roadmap for institutional digital transformation
The session provided insights into how universities can assess and strengthen their digital capacities while integrating sustainability and green competencies.
Strengthening EU: Mongolia collaboration for sustainable education
The presentation closely aligns with GreenTech Horizons objectives, emphasizing the development of green, digital, and business skills within higher education. Discussions highlighted strategic planning, institutional capacity building, and international cooperation as critical factors for supporting sustainable, future-ready university systems.
The conference attracted professors and graduate students from Mongolian universities as well as international participants from institutions including Technische Universität Chemnitz (Germany), Anhui University (China), Novosibirsk State Technical University (Russia), Tokushima University (Japan), and National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan).

Positive reception and project visibility
Participants showed strong interest in the digital transformation readiness assessment and maturity framework, recognizing it as a practical tool for self-evaluation. The five-step roadmap for MUST was praised as adaptable for other universities in the region. The presentation positioned GreenTech Horizons as a timely response to challenges related to digitalisation, sustainability, and the green transition in higher education.
