Second-year graduate students at the University of Split explored how green and digital transformation is reshaping education, business, and professional practice during a presentation of the GreenTech Horizons project at the Makarska Campus.

The activity was delivered as part of the Crisis Management in the Hospitality Industry course within the Independent Study of Hotel Management and Gastronomy. It introduced students to the Erasmus+ project “Fostering Dual Green and Digital Transitions through Education and Innovation in the Neighbourhood East, Central Asia, and Asia – GreenTech Horizons.”

Preparing Students for a Green and Digital Future

The presentation focused on the growing need to develop green, digital, and business competencies simultaneously. Students learned how GreenTech Horizons supports education and innovation in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia, where higher education institutions are responding to technological change and increasing sustainability requirements.

The project’s main activities were presented, including the modernisation of higher education curricula, the development of a competency-based learning ecosystem, and the creation of an advanced eLearning platform.

These resources are designed to equip students and industry professionals with the knowledge and skills required for a sustainable and digitally driven future.

Connecting International Innovation with Hospitality

By linking GreenTech Horizons with the subject of crisis management, the presentation helped students consider how digital literacy, sustainable development, and green technologies can be applied within the hospitality industry.

The discussion highlighted the relevance of these competencies for organisations facing changing market conditions, environmental challenges, technological development, and the need to strengthen resilience.

Students showed particular interest in the practical application of green and digital principles in their future professional work.

Bringing Education, Industry, and Policy Together

The presentation also introduced the Talent Triangle Model, which connects digital, green, and business competencies through cooperation among universities, industry, and policymakers.

This collaborative approach is central to GreenTech Horizons, as it supports the development of educational programmes that respond more effectively to labour market needs while encouraging innovation and sustainable growth.

By presenting the project within a graduate-level course, the activity strengthened students’ awareness of how international cooperation can contribute to curriculum development, professional competencies, and more resilient industries.

The presentation also supported the visibility of GreenTech Horizons through teaching activities, social media dissemination, and internal reporting within the project’s WP5 Dissemination Work Package.

By bringing green and digital topics into hospitality education, the activity contributed to the broader GreenTech Horizons goal of preparing students and professionals to participate actively in the twin green and digital transitions.
