ATUkz has been established in 1957, university is one of the leading HEIs in Kazakhstan and also has good local and international rankings including QS World University Rankings.
JSC “ATU” has 4 faculties, number of students around 8000, 19 departments, the Kazakh-Swiss Institute of Tourism and Hospitality (HTMI),

Scientific and research work is carried out according to priority fields:
- Energy saving and renewable energy sources
- Problems of environment protection
- Investigation and development of water-chemical procedures and technologies
- Development of modern education, continuous qualification improvement and trainings
- Food science and technologies
- Commercialization of previous research projects results

Education programmes designed in the areas of engineering as follows: automation and robotics engineering, scale of renewable energy sources use, environment protection, industrial water use and water treatment; chemical engineering; food science and food processing; economics and business, including tourism and restaurant and hospitality businesses; fashion design, graphic design; textile technologies; trainings for specialist of the industries in the of green deal, food technologies, food security, environment protection, ecologic issues, robotics, IT; economics and business, entrepreneurship, digital transformation. University organises the workshops, trainings and conferences in the areas of engineering, information technologies, agriculture technologies, food processing, and other.
ATUKZ staff has a good experience in participation in international projects, both in the scope of national and international funding. University academic staff is trained in the leading universities of Europe and US. ATUKZ provides education of three level students in the following fields related to Digital transformation and Green Deal: Infocommunication Technologies and Systems; Internet of Things IoT, Radio Engineering, Electronics and Robotics, systems of cooling and air conditioning, heating and ventilation. PhD students have short term and long term internships in EU universities under supervision of professors from European universities, and make joint publications with their co-supervisors in journals, which are indexed in SCOPUS and Web of Science databases.
